Terry O. Copeland, 85, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday afternoon, August 8th. He was born July 24, 1932 in Jamestown, New York a son of Harry Copeland and Laura Galbraith Copeland, both deceased. He married the love of his life, Janet (Furry) Copeland on October 1, 1955 and they were happily married for 60 years. Janet preceded him in death on October 23, 2015.
Terry attended school in Blooming Valley and Saegertown High School. He proudly served his Country as an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Terry was retired from Schneider Transport as an over the road driver. He previously was employed by Meadowbrook Dairy and the American Viscose. Terry proudly served as a board member for the Penncrest School district for two terms. He was a member of the Venango VFW Post 169 and Saegertown American Legion Post 205.
Terry was a lifelong LA Dodgers fan and he faithfully watched every game that was televised. He loved his family and they were his pride and joy. His great grandchildren, who loved him dearly, knew him as GG. Terry was a dear friend to many and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loving, caring and giving person and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Survivors, include two sons, Vaughn (Tank) Copeland and his wife Kathleen (Kate) of Saegertown, and Bret Copeland and his wife Lori of Conneautville; two daughters, Jan McElhinny and her husband John of Evans City and Debra Walp of Meadville; six grandchildren Katrina Copeland-Yeung (Edward), Sabrina Copeland, Veronica (Chad) Wachowiak, Rhiannon Walp, Brian Walp and Stephen May; three great grandchildren, Alexander Yeung, Callie Yeung, and Lena Wachowiak. He is also survived by his “special” cousins and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Copeland and Daniel Copeland.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Monday from 1-3 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA. The funeral service will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter de Vries, of Old Union Presbyterian Church and Reverend Marshall Lillie, of Conneaut Valley Nazarene Church officiating.
Interment with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006 will be in Saegertown Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Terry’s life after the funeral with a dinner to be held at the VFW James D. Bower’s Post #169, 20628 Gospel Hill Road, Venango, PA.
