Thelma I. Cousins

Thelma I. Cousins, 93, formerly of Blooming Valley and Hillside Home, Meadville, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born May 12, 1918 in Woodcock, a daughter of Floyd E. and Grace I. Flick Johnston.  She married James G. Cousins June 14, 1937 and he preceded her in death April 19, 2001.

Thelma was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a devoted homemaker and Pastor's wife.  She was a member of the Wesbury Sunset Auxiliary, performed church secretarial work and enjoyed cooking, sewing, her pets, entertaining, and playing the piano and organ.

A loving mother and grandmother, Thelma was a member of the Blooming Valley United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women and children's ministry.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Ebbert of Bryan, OH and Janet Lochrane and her husband Thomas of Ontario, NY; a son, James A. Cousins of Blooming Valley; a sister, Shirley Putt of Haslet, TX; six grandchildren, Amy Roan, Scott Ebbert and his wife Ann, James A. (Allen) Cousins, Jr. and his wife Cathy, Brian Cousins and his wife Allison, JoAnn Fiorello and her husband Frank, and Thomas J. Lochrane, Jr. and Katrina Jones; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Wilson of Christ Evangelical Free Church, Saegertown officiating and assisted by the Rev. Beverly Spore, Pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
