Thelma Riede Lake Ullom, 88, of 218 Chestnut St., Meadville went to be with her Lord and Savior and be reunited with family members who have gone before her, Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
She was born in Erie November 16, 1918, a daughter of the late Fred C. and Jessie Hawthorn Riede. She married Harry O. Lake June 2, 1937 and he preceded her in death April 20, 1965. She subsequently married Major Edward W. Ullom in 1967 and he preceded her in death November 6, 1995.
She was a 1936 graduate of Townville High School. A very accomplished woman throughout her life, she owned businesses in Townville, was a vendor at the World’s Fair in New York City, traveled extensively and taught English in DaNang, Vietnam and Tehran, Iran, and owned and managed gift shops in Florida. She was a member of the Acacia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a mother advisor of the Titusville Rainbow Girls Chapter 64 for 3 years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family cottage in Canada.
She was an active member at Townville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Daryl Lake and his wife Beverly of Meadville; a daughter, Sharon Villa of Townville; a step-daughter, Gretchen Webb and her husband Norman of Colon, MI; a sister, Virginia Lee Barstow of Spartansburg; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly A. Farrell and her husband Patrick, Lee O. Lake and his wife Darlene, Michael R. Villa and his wife Jennifer, and Daryl L. Villa and his wife Heidi; 2 step-grandsons, Jeffrey and David Webb; 9 great-grandchildren, Emma, Joshua, Kaille, Kieron, Danielle, Ashley, Alan, Elisa, and Julian; 2 step-great-grandsons, Aaron and Kyle; 4 nephews; and 3 special people, Lou Villa, Jeanne Campbell, and a caregiver Candy. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Riede.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Cynthia K. Schneider, Pastor of Townville United Methodist Church officiating and assisted by the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
