Thelma W. Bookwalter, 91, formerly of 17587 Huson Rd., Saegertown and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Thursday, December 7, 2006.
She was born in Salix, Cambia County, October 16, 1915, a daughter of the late Ross and Mayme Horne Weaver. She married C.D. “Booky” Bookwalter April 2, 1938.
She was a 1934 graduate of East Fallowfield High School and was primarily a homemaker and farm wife. During World War II, she worked at Bremerton, WA Naval Shipyard in the optical shop. She enjoyed the challenge of living and working side by side with her husband through the depression, World War II, and their farming years.
A woman of strong faith, she lived her life by the Holy Bible and through Baptist fellowship.
Survivors, in addition to her husband C.D. of 68 years who is a Wesbury resident, include a brother, Clayne Weaver and his wife Grace of Jamestown; a brother-in-law, Rev. Richard Bish of Transfer; 2 sisters-in-law, Emma Weaver of Pilgrim, TN and Betty Gaiser of Transfer; and nieces and nephews through 3 generations. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ivadene Bish and 2 brothers, Doyle and Olen Weaver.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral and committal service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Barco Chapel, Grace Nursing Center of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville with the Revs. Dale Adams and Richard Bish officiating.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
