Theodore R. Shorts

Theodore R. Shorts, 76, of Meadville, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 at Meadville Medical Center, following an extended illness.

He was born April 19, 1918, in Tionesta, PA, a son of Raymond and Edith Sutley Shorts.  He married Imogene Wilson in 1937.  She preceded him in death in 1987.  He subsequently married Ellener Miller in 1989.

He was the owner and operator of the Super Duper Market in Cambridge Springs for 31 years, until selling it to his son Robert in 1980.  He was a member of Covenant Masonic Lodge #473, Cambridge Springs, where he was a 32nd degree Mason.  He was a member of the Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, the Kismet Grotto, Meadville, and the Scottish Rites Bodies, Erie.  He was also a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219, Meadville Aerie #429 and the Exchange Club of Cambridge Springs.  And he was an honorary member of the American Legion of Cambridge Springs and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Meadville.  He attended Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Harvey (Judith) K. Smith of Cambridge Springs; three sons, Richard L. of Edinboro, Robert K. of Cambridge Springs and Ronald B. of Bowie, MD; a step-son, Mark K. Miller of Cheverly, MD; two sisters, Eva Brown of Erie and Pauline Wilmoth of Cambridge Springs; six granddaughters; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Gerowe.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mitchell Cemetery.
