Thomas A. Keenan, 77, of Meadville died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Marquette Hospice House.

Tom was a graduate of Edinboro University.  He was a 24 year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, retiring in 1981 with the rank of sergeant.  Following his retirement, and move to northwestern Pennsylvania, he was employed at Edinboro University as transportation coordinator in the Office for Students with Disabilities (a job which he truly loved and was passionate about).

He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years Joyce (Kilmer) of Meadville and a daughter Catherine (Katie) of Erie.  He is further survived by children, Thomas, Kathleen, John (Jack), Brian, and William of Philadelphia.  Also surviving is a sister Margaret (Peg) DiNardo of Philadelphia and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews all of the Philadelphia area.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph, James, John and William.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a Scripture Prayer Service at 5 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski assisted by Rev. Dave Brumagin and Rev. Marshall Lillie, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to March of Dimes-Northwest Pennsylvania Division, 1407 Penninsula Dr. Erie, PA 16505 or the Marquette Hospice House, c/o Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
