Thomas Andrew Wentworth, 89, formerly of Meadville and Black Ash, who had lived at the Soldiers and Sailors Home of Erie for 20 years, died Tuesday, July 28, 1964, at the Edinboro Nursing Home, Edinboro, after a long illness.
He was born in Wayne Township, September 12, 1874, a son of Andrew and Martha Barnard Wentworth. His wife, the former Della Smith, died several years ago.
Mr. Wentworth had retired as a mail carrier out of the Meadville Post Office. Previously, he had been a teacher for several years. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, serving in Puerto Rico with Company E. 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Mabel) Lingo of Espyville; a brother, Britton Wentworth of Rocky Grove; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
