Thomas H. DeGrange, 27, of Oil City, and formerly of Meadville, administrative assistant to the president of Northwest Pennsylvania Bank and Trust Co. of Oil City, was killed instantly at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 1969, in a car-truck collision on Route 358 in Mercer County. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. DeGrange was born in Meadville, May 23, 1941, a son of Dr. H. H. and Margaret Mook DeGrange. He was married to the former Sandra K. Willison on June 20, 1964.
He was a 1959 graduate of Saegertown High School and received a BA degree in economics from Allegheny College in 1963. Following graduation, he did one year of post graduate work at Edinboro College in 1964. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was also a member of Oil City Chamber of Commerce.
On July 6, 1964, Mr. DeGrange joined the staff at Northwest Bank as an administrative trainee. He was promoted in October of 1966 to assistant operations officer and later, in 1968, to assistant secretary. He was assigned to his post as administrative assistant to the bank's president at Oil City on August 19, 1968.
While in Meadville, he was active in United Fund work and in the activities of Associated Charities, another UF agency. He was a member of the Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a sergeant in the US Army Reserves, 198th Transportation Co. of Franklin, and also served as treasurer and a member of the official board at Stone United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides his widow, Sandra, is a son, Mark Thomas at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. DeGrange of Meadville; and a brother, John DeGrange of Des Plaines, IL.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Saegertown Cemetery.
