Thomas G. Eckert

Thomas G. Eckert, 45, of Hayfield Township, died Monday, October 28, 1985, at City Hospital following an illness of over two years.

Mr. Eckert was born at Meadville, May 16, 1940, a son of Gerald L. and LaVerne VanBuren Eckert.  He married Eileen Hutchinson, August 1, 1959.  She survives.

Mr. Eckert was self-employed as a barber at Springboro and was a tax collector for Hayfield Township.  He attended Norrisville United Methodist Church.  Mr. Eckert was a member of Western Crawford Masonic Lodge 258, Conneautville; Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie; Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie; Crawford County Shrine Club and Kismet Grotto, Meadville.  He was also a member of Hayfield Volunteer Fire Department where he was serving as assistant chief and treasurer and recently received an award for fireman of the year.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Miss Karen Eckert, at home; two sons, Kenneth E. Eckert of Conneautville and Larry T. Eckert, at home; his mother, Mrs. LaVerne Waltman of Conneautville; three step sisters, Dorothy Dillemuth of Houston, TX, Dawn Bukowski of East Syracuse, NY and Laurel Moore of Cape Coral, FL; a brother, William E. Eckert of Conneautville; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Denny Cemetery.
