Thomas M. Nelson, Jr., 79, of Atlantic, PA, died December 26, 2005 at his winter home in Deltona, FL, after a long illness.
He was born January 19, 1926 in Oil City, PA the son of Thomas M. and Mary Marguerite Burns Nelson. He married Mary Ann Hebert June 28, 1953 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, PA. She survives.
Tom served with the US Army Air Corps and the US Air Force Reserves from 1944 to 1986. He served during WWII and Korea and retired as Lt. Col. in 1986 from the US Air Force Reserves.
Tom retired as principal of Conneaut Lake Elementary School in 1985 after 36 years of service.
He was a member of Lake Lutheran Church, Conneaut Lake.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Assn., the Reserve Officers Assn., National Assn. of Uniformed Services, American Legion, the American Security Council Advisory Board of Deltona, FL. He was a life member of PA State Teacher Assn. and life member of PA Education Assn.
Tom was a loving father and husband and he will be sadly missed by Mary Ann, his beloved wife of 52 years, a daughter, Christina Ann Kersey (Dr. Gary Kersey) of Winter Springs, FL; a son, Eric Nelson (Sherry) of Altamonte Springs, FL; a grandson, Andrew Nelson Kersey of Winter Springs, FL; three sisters, Maryada Ferguson of Parma, OH, Doris Crawford of Baordman, OH and Joan Clinger of Clarksburg, WV.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
