Thurman J. Groger, 78, of Conneaut Lake, formerly of Meadville, died at Crawford County Home, where he had been a patient for the past week, Sunday October 6, 1985, following an illness of several months.
Mr. Groger was born at Summit Township, February 3, 1907, a son of Peter and Maude McGuire Groger. He married Elinorah Weaver, February 1943. She preceded him in death February 1985.
Mr. Groger was employed as an engineer for Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, from which he retired after 43 years of service. He was a life member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Meadville Club and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 429.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Katherine) Cook of Monessen, Mrs. Willard (Dorothy) Holton of Erie, Mrs. Robert (Myra) Millard of Conneaut Lake and Mrs. Charles (Isabel) Steele of Conneaut Lake; two brothers, Ernest J. Groger of Conneaut Lake and Lawrence J. Groger of Butler and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia Clark and a brother, Francis Groger.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
