V. Mead Carpenter

October 10, 1929 — March 24, 1989

V. Mead Carpenter, 59, of Newberry, SC, formerly of Guys Mills, died Friday, March 24, 1989, at Wesbury United Methodist Community following a one-year illness.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Randolph Township, October 10, 1929, a son of W. Creighton and Ethel Schoonover Carpenter.  He married Helen L. Fry April 21, 1949.  She survives.

He had been employed by Conrail as a welder for 23 years.  He previously had been employed at the former Eager Beaver Lumber, Co., Townville.  He also had been employed as a small engine repairman for H.L. Hedgepath & Son, Newberry.  He was a member of Epting United Methodist Church, Newberry, the men's Bible class of the church, and was a former secretary of the church.  He was a former member and officer of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Townville.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Dunn of North Canton, OH, Marlene Dominick of Prosperity, SC and Nancy Smith of San Angelo, TX; one son, Gary V. Carpenter of Townville; his mother, Ethel Carpenter of Meadville; six grandchildren and several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery.
