Valentine (Val) Wallie Eiler, V

Valentine (Val) Wallie Eiler, V, 81, of Meadville, passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family following a long term kidney disease.

He was born April 19, 1941 in Meadville, a son of the late Valentine Wallie and Virginia Minnis Eiler.  He married Karen Smock May 7, 1966.

Val was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School.  He worked as a brakeman for Erie-Lackawanna, Conrail, and CSX Railroads, retiring in 2004.  He previously worked for nine years at Meadville Sporting Goods, the business owned by his parents.

Val was a life-member of Meadville Eagles Aerie 429, member of Vernon Central Hose Company, and member of the former Meadville Club where he had worked.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Val was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and coached Meadville Area Youth Baseball and Softball.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Karen, include a daughter, Teva Eiler (Colleen) of McKean; a son, Val Eiler, VI (Teresa) of Chillicothe, OH; four grandchildren, Haley (Luke), Kailynn, Wallie, and Brynlee; two great-grandchildren, Elias and Benjie; a brother, Ronni Eiler (Mary) of Phillipsburg; two sisters, Monnie Weston (Denny) of Spring Hill, FL and Debby Crumb (Don) of Camillus, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday, May 6th from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Miles, Chaplain of Promedica Hospice of Erie, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd. or the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., both of Meadville, PA 16335.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Doug Blood and Karen Blood (caregiver), the staff at the Barco Oncology Institute, and Promedica Hospice of Erie for their wonderful support and care.
