Vearl "Red" Stamp

Vearl “Red” Stamp, 99 of Sandy Lake, passed away on December 14, 2018. He was a resident of Greystone Estates in Fredonia for four years. He was born in Stoneboro on May 7, 1919 to the late Chester and Bertha Baumgardner Stamp. He was a 1937 graduate of Stoneboro High School and went on to work at Powell Pressed Steel of Hubbard, OH, was the Boro Secretary and Maintenance Worker for Sandy Lake Boro, and eventually retiring from Westinghouse in Sharon. Red married his beloved wife Fern R. Klein on September 23, 1941, she preceded him in death on October 30, 2010. Red attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Sandy Lake. He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved to travel with his family and going camping with them. He was a handyman, loving to work around the house and repair appliances. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Red is survived by his daughter, Vickie Simons of Monroe, MI, son Richard Stamp and wife Judy of Hamilton, OH, daughter-in-law Jean Stamp of Sandy Lake, sister-in-law Barb Reed and husband Jim, eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Red was preceded in death by his son, Gary Stamp, brothers Chester & James Stamp, and sister Velma Galentine. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin St, where family and friends are welcome from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, December 21. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11 am on Saturday, December 22, with the Pastor Pat Confer, retired pastor, officiating. Private interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Red’s name to Greystone Estates, 424 Delaware Rd, Fredonia, 16124, or Sandy Lake Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 5319 Franklin St, Sandy Lake, PA 16145.
