Velma Hamilton

November 23, 1888 — February 1, 1982

Miss Velma Hamilton, 93, formerly of Meadville, died February 1, 1982, at Mead Nursing Home where she had been a patient for the past three years.

She was born in West Mead Township, November 23, 1888, daughter of J. Wilson and Anna Van Marter Hamilton.

She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in West Mead and Vernon Township.

Miss Hamilton attended Allegheny College and Edinboro State College.  She was a 71 year old member of First Baptist Church and its Plus Altra Class.

She was a charter member of Meadville Grange and Dames of Malta Sisterhood No. 218; a member of Pomona state and national granges; a 75 year member and past noble grand of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge, IOOF, a member of Past Noble Grands Club and was past district deputy of Western Crawford County.  She was a member of 21-Plus Club of Saegertown, West Mead 2 Volunteer Fire Department Aux., Senior Citizens Club and Gallivanters Club.

Survivors include several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
