Vera B. Bartholomew

Vera B. Bartholomew, 90, formerly of Guys Mills and a current resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, died there Friday, October 5, 2001.

She was born January 31, 1911 in Guys Mills, a daughter of the late Alex and Myrtle Smith Thompson.  She married Robert A. Bartholomew September 9, 1943 and he preceded her in death August 13, 1967.

She worked at Talon as a machine operator and concurrently worked at Cribbs Home of the former Methodist Home, Meadville as a caregiver.  She subsequently worked as a nurse’s aid for 8 years in the Intensive Care Unit of the former Meadville City Hospital and also as an in home caregiver for over 12 years.  She especially enjoyed being with her family.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Meadville.

Survivors include a son, Orville Bartholomew and his wife Phyllis of Conneaut Lake; a daughter, Bonita Godsave and her husband Raymond of Corry; 7 grandchildren, Alana Pognant, Raymond Godsave, Brenda Lewis, Julie Jackson, Bob Bartholomew, David Bartholomew, and Steven Bartholomew; and 11 great-grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Thompson.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Fred Monk, Pastor of Fallowfield United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
