Vernon C. Snyder

Vernon C. Snyder, 86, a resident of Mead Nursing Home since April 1980 and formerly of Holland Towers, died at the home Saturday, May 7, 1983, following an extended illness.

He was born at Cherry Tree, Venango County, October 17, 1896, a son of Elmer E. and Elda Thomas Snyder.  He married Thelma Rossman, June 9, 1920.  She died May 26, 1969.

He was retired after 30 years of service in the engineering department of Talon.  A member of Meadville First Presbyterian Church and Charles Stafford Post 111 of the American Legion, he had served in World War as an ambulance driver in the Medical Corps in France.

He is survived by a son, V. Lynn Snyder of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Bertha) Nelson of Mercer; a brother, Thomas Snyder of Franklin; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment as in Greendale Cemetery.
