Vernon Lynn Snyder

May 12, 1925 — April 5, 1996

V. Lynn Snyder, 70, of Meadville, died Friday, April 5, 1996 at Meadville Medical Center, after an extended illness.

He was born May 12, 1925 at Franklin, a son of the late Vernon C. and Thelma Rossman Snyder.  He married Mairlyn Muckinhoupt September 18, 1948.  She survives.

He was a 1943 graduate of Meadville High School and served during World War II, first with the  US Navy and then with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  He then graduated from Allegheny College in the Class of 1949, and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.  He also played football at Allegheny and continued to support the team and attend games.

He worked for the PA Dept. of Health and had retired in 1985 from Richard Deiss and Associates.  He enjoyed photography and had been employed at one time at Photographic Arts and Glaubach Studios, and also had been self-employed in Photography.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the National Rifle Assn. and Trout Unlimited.  He also made fly rods and tied his own flies for fishing.  He had been a member of Meadville Kiwanis Club, Charter member of the Meadville Jaycees, member of the Round Table and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Carol Lynn Doeffinger of Fairport, NY; a son, Frederick (Fritz) Snyder of Meadville; three grandchildren and several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
