Victor C. 'Jack' Gunn

April 7, 1935 — November 11, 2003

Victor C. “Jack” Gunn, 68, of 23878 Plank Road, Meadville, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.

He was born in Meadville April 7, 1935 a son of Theodore C. and Elizabeth M. Shepard Gunn.  He had been married to Joan “Tony” Booker and subsequently married Carol Davis December 18, 1984.

He worked for 11 years for Imperial Carbide as a tool and die maker retiring in 2001.  Previously he worked as a tool and die maker for Talon, Inc. for 25 years starting as an apprentice in 1965.

He was a 1953 graduate of Meadville High School and veteran of the Korean War as an MP with the US Army 82nd Airborne Division.  He was a member of East Mead and West Mead Township Volunteer Fire Departments; a 25-year committee member of Ducks Unlimited; life member of Harm Jan Huidekoper VFW Post 2006, Meadville; member of Cambridge Springs American Legion Post 381; Meadville Elks Lodge #219; Meadville Coin Club; Black Ash Sportsmen’s Club; Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and R.S.V.P.  He also served as a member of the credit committee of the N/W PA Federal Credit Union for several years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was of the protestant faith.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Carol, include his father, Theodore C. Gunn of Meadville; three daughters, Diana Rudd and her husband Bruce of Guys Mills; Karen Gunn of Erie; and Tammie Groene and her husband David of Woodbridge, VA; one stepdaughter, Lynda Field and her husband Russell of Ottumwa, Iowa; one stepson, Mark H. Neff of Buffalo, MN; one brother, Kenneth T. Gunn and his wife Nancy of Saegertown; nine grandchildren, Maria and Christina Froncillo, Victoria, Alexandra and Katherine Groene, Tyler Stevens and Zachary, Matthew and Bethany Field and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth M. Gunn.

Calling hours are today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service with military honors by VFW Post 2006 will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Brumagin of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Following cremation burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
