Vida M. Stacey

Vida M. Stacey, 82, of Meadville, a former area teacher, died Monday, September 6, 1993, at Meadville Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Red Level, Alabama, January 24, 1911, a daughter of Albert A. and Zeddie Jones Lewis.  She married the Rev. Thomas A. Stacey, July 31, 1939.  He preceded her in death June 29, 1973.  Her husband was pastor of Meadville First Baptist Church from 1956 to 1973.

She was a teacher for the  Crawford Central and Penncrest School Districts for several years.  She was a member of Meadville First Baptist Church and a former officer in the local and state Assn. of American Baptist Women.  She was a 1936 graduate of Bob Jones University, and she was the dean of women at the University from 1935 to 1939.  She was a member of the Ladies Advisory Committee of the former Meadville City Hospital.  She was active member of the YWCA, and she was the current president of the Philo-Mathesian Club of Meadville.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ann Stacey of Cincinnati, OH and Mrs. Lee (June) Stacey-Clemons of Seattle, WA; a sister, Lota Miller of Indian Lake Estates, FL; a brother, Dr. Marvin Lewis of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Lewis.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
