Vina M. (Dixie) Nelson

Vina M. "Dixie" Nelson, 80, of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, September 23, 2002 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

She was born April 17, 1922 in Shoals Township, Surry County, NC, a daughter of the late William A. and Nannie Jane Wilson Cain.  She married Hal B. Nelson November 12, 1938.

She was a homemaker.  She was a life member of Mountville, PA Veterans of Foreign Wars Aux. Post 8757 and was also a member of the Conneaut Lake VFD.  She enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, crocheting and canning.

She attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of over 63 years, include two grandchildren, Tonya R. Whaley and Shane N. R. Whaley; a sister, Ida Palmer of Pilot Mountain, NC; a brother, Ellis Cain (Margie) of Pinnacle, NC; a son-in-law, Roy W. E. Whaley of Conneaut Lake and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Latonie Ayodaner Whaley and four sisters, Annie, Francis, Pearl and Lillian.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.
