Viola M. Ehrgott

August 17, 1904 — November 12, 2008

Viola M. Ehrgott, 104, formerly of Krider Road, Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Wednesday, November 12, 2008.

She was born in Wayne Township, Crawford County August 17, 1904, a daughter of the late Ezra and Lenora Barthalomew McCracken.  She married Herman D. Ehrgott October 7, 1930 and he preceded her in death November 21, 1985.

She was a homemaker and had assisted in the operation of the family farm in Union Township.  She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Survivors include twin daughters, Janet Bean and her husband Paul of Meadville and Joan Smith of Meadville; 2 sons, Paul Ehrgott and his wife Audine of Meadville and Lynn Ehrgott and his wife Anne of Meadville; 10 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arden and Robert McCracken.

Calling hours will be today (Friday) from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Roger Smith, Associate Minister of First Christian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, c/o Linda Litwiler, 6882 Mount Pleasant Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville PA 16335.
