Mrs. Violet Irons Mabus, 87, of Frenchtown, died Wednesday, May 17, 1961, at the Graham Nursing Home, Guys Mills, following a long illness. She was the widow of George W. Mabus, whom she married May 6, 1891.
Mrs. Mabus was born in Randolph Township, October 16, 1873, a daughter of Amos and Emma Lemon Irons. She formerly was affiliated with Black Ash Methodist Church and the Farmer's Alliance at Black Ash. She spent most of her life in that area.
She is survived by a son, Earl H. of Meadville; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Rush of Frenchtown, with whom she lived until recent years, and Mrs. Mary Wizer of Windsor, OH; two brothers, George Irons of Black Ash and Edward Irons of Troy Township; two grandchildren, Louis O. Mabus of Meadville and Mrs. Helen Spring of Largo, FL and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Black Ash Cemetery.
