Miss Violet R. Atkinson, 70, Saegertown, formerly of Meadville, died at home Monday, January 22, 1973, after a sudden illness. She had been in poor health for some time.
She was born at Pittsburgh on November 23, 1902, a daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Milligan Atkinson. She taught school at Second District for many years and was principle for two years in the early 1940s at Neason Hill Elementary School. Miss Atkinson was a graduate of Edinboro State College and did graduate work at Allegheny College. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and a member of Crawford County Retired Teachers Assn.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Bessie Jane Atkinson of Gibsonia; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Arthur Atkinson.
Services were held at the Waid Funeral Home with interment in Homewood Cemetery.
