Virginia E. Marhoefer, formerly of 122 Lyons St., Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Tuesday, December 31, 2002.
She was born in Meadville October 13, 1907, a daughter of the late David and Maude Sayre Hennen. She married Louis R. Marhoefer April 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death December 14, 1991.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School, was a homemaker, and worked as an office assistant to Dr. Vincent Hawkey. She was a member for over 50 years of the Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and a former member of the Keystone Hose Company Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, knitting, doing puzzles, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and had attended Bethany United Methodist Church.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Diane Brumbaugh and her husband Larry of Conneaut Lake and Sandra Nicolls of Meadville; 4 grandchildren, Kris, Kirk, Ronald, and Joyce Brumbaugh; 4 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Nielsen of Houston, TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Hayes and a half-brother, Herbert Hennen.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lea Guiney, Pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Saegertown Cemetery.
