Virginia Eiler, 97, of Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, passed away there Saturday, April 14, 2012 following a short illness surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 30, 1915 in Sandy Lake, a daughter of Roy and Christine Nodler Minnis. She married V. Wallie Eiler June 7, 1940 and he preceded her in death October 19, 1979.
Virginia was a 1934 graduate of Sandy Lake High School. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Meadville Sporting Goods for 27 years.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed her many travels, and was an avid reader and story teller. Virginia leaves a legacy of fun and laughter.
Survivors include two sons, Val W. Eiler and his wife Karen of Meadville and Ronni Eiler and his wife Mary of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Monnie Weston and her husband Denny of Meadville and Debby Crumb and her husband Don of Syracuse, NY; a sister, Betty Jo Eiler of Meadville; 9 grandchildren, Teva Eiler, Val Eiler and his wife Teresa, Brent Eiler and his wife Melissa, Tim Eiler and his wife Rachel, Lisa Lingle and her husband Doug, Chad Weston and his wife Stefanie, Jason Weston and his wife Amy, Jameson Crumb, and Ashleigh Green and her husband Craig ; 15 great-grandchildren, Haley, Kailynn, Wallie, and Brynlee Eiler, Zachary Eiler, Aubrey and Annie Eiler, Katie and Zack Lingle, Brittany, Brayden, and Bryce Weston, Lauren and Evan Weston, and Allison Green; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and John Minnis.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
