Virginia Mae Mcfadden Proper

October 1, 1923 — April 13, 2008

Virginia Mae McFadden Proper, 84, of 10851 State Hwy 198, Guys Mills, left her residence to be with the Lord April 13, 2008. She was born in Corry October 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Forrest L. and Florence Garnett McFadden. She married Richard C. Proper August 2, 1942 and he preceded her in death August 23, 1988. A 1941 graduate of Randolph High School, she worked at Talon, and for 25 years as a teachers aid in the Penncrest School District, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the PA Association of School Retirees, was the former secretary of the Union Cemetery Association, Guys Mills, and she especially enjoyed being with her family. She was a member of the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills. Survivors include 5 children, Carol Miller and her friend Rick Cady of Guys Mills; Ronald G. Proper and his wife Bonnie of Saegertown; Richard E. Proper and his wife Judith of Erie; Larry D. Proper and his wife Connie of Guys Mills; and Cindy McKissock and her husband Scott of Cambridge Springs; 10 grandchildren, Kevin Turner, Kim Turner Ryan, Amy Proper Hough, Kari Proper Ferguson, Mark Proper, Greg Proper, Lisa Proper Sands, Andrea Proper Giliberto, Cindy Proper Doyle, and Ryan McKissock; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma McFadden and her companion Jack York of Guys Mills; a brother, William F. McFadden and his wife Gladys of Altoona; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and a cousin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Maxine McFadden. Calling hours are today (Monday) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills with the Rev. David Coddington, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills. The family suggests memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 717 Indiana Dr., Erie, PA 16506 or the United Evangelical Free Church of Guys Mills, P.O. Box 26, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
