W. Lawrence Gilvair, 65, of Meadville, died Wednesday evening, May 13, 1970 at Spencer Hospital after an illness of a year.
He was born in Meadville, July 29, 1904, a son of M. L. and Ida Wygant Gilvair. He married Helen Saeger in 1932.
Mr. Gilvair was employed as a guard for Talon Division of Textron, Inc., for 28 years, retiring in August 1969. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, New Castle Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine of Erie, and he was a life member of Meadville Elks Lodge. He was well-known as a musician, having performed several years ago in the Meadville Civic Symphony and in teaching stringed instruments.
Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Donna Rae) White of New Castle; a son, William of Meadville and three grandchildren, Karen Lynn, Sharon Rae and Donna Jaye White.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
