Wade A. George, 58, commercial supervisor for Pennsylvania Electric Co. here since May 1948, died at Spencer Hospital on Thursday, March 7, 1968, following an illness of two years.
George first went to work for Penelec as a clerk in the company's Oil City office in 1929. He was named manager of collection in 1936 and assistant office manager in 1944. He was transferred to the DuBois district in April 1947 and transferred to Meadville the following year.
He was born at Oil City on January 9, 1910, a son of the late Robert and Anna Stevens George, and married the former Velma Oiler of Oil City in 1936.
He was a member of Stone Methodist Church, Petroila Masonic Lodge 363 of Oil City, Meadville Lions Club, Meadville Elks Lodge, Greater Meadville Safety Council and was a past director of Meadville YMCA.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by one son and two daughters, Dan S. George of Meadville, Mrs. Joseph Piper of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Dale Hardner of Ridgewood, NJ; three sister, Mrs. Wilda Ebinger of Oil City, Mrs. Florence Hays of Sarasota, FL and Mrs. Fannie Peters of Little Falls, NJ; one brother, F. Edward George of York and three grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
