Wallace Reed Mattocks

April 11, 1906 — January 1, 1753

Wallace Reed Mattocks, 43, was killed yesterday, when the tractor he was using to pull a chicken coop on his Randolph Township farm toppled over backwards pinning him underneath the steering wheel.

A lifelong resident of Crawford County, Wallace Mattocks had farmed at the Guys Mills location - where the family recently completed building a new house - for about four years.  During part of that time, he also was employed by Meadville Malleable Iron Company of Meadville.

Before moving to the Guys Mills area, he had farmed in the Sugar Lake vicinity for about 12 years.

Surviving are his widow, Mildred Kightlinger Mattocks; six children, Mrs. David King of Guys Mills, Clair Mattocks of Meadville, and Marjorie, Evelyn, Charles and Raymond Mattocks, all at home; one grandchild; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stillman Mattocks of Guys Mills; and six siblings, Lewis Mattock and Mrs. Milton McClymonds, both of Guys Mills, Mrs. Paul Uplinger of Woodcockboro, Arthur Mattocks of Erie, Vance Mattocks of Sugar Lake, Earl Mattocks of Wayland and Daniel Mattocks of Conneautville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
