Walter Bean Andre

Walter Bean Andre, 72, Star Route, died Tuesday, May 19, 1987, at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Andre was born in Cochranton, March 5, 1915, a son of Stanley and Susie Bean Andre.  He married Helen Hecker.  He subsequently married Dorothy Babbitt.  She preceded him in death.  He then married Jean Wiesman December 11, 1986.  She survives.

He was a barber for 53 years.  He was owner and operator of Andre's Barber Shop when he retired in 1986.  He was a graduate of Cochranton High School and Cleveland Barber College.  He was a member of the Journeyman Barbers International Union.  He was a member of the executive board of the Crawford County Labor Union Council and served as recording and corresponding secretary of the organization for 25 years.  He was a charter member of the Crawford County Chapter of the Easter Seals Society and was involved with the society's Camp Lend-a-hand, Conneaut Lake.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Crawford County Historical Society.  He served on the board of directors of the Sugar Creek Memorial Cemetery Association.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. James (Sandra) Ploski, Meadville; one stepson, Norman Weisman of Meadville; two grandsons; and several cousins.

Services were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Rev. David Hosick of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
