Walter Clinton Anderson

May 14, 1923 — June 15, 1998

Walter Clinton Anderson, 75, of New Orleans and formerly of Meadville, Erie and Asheville, NC, died Monday, June 15, 1998 in Baton Rogue, LA following a period of declining health.

He was born in Erie, May 14, 1923, a son of Walter O. and Marie (Trimble) Anderson.  He married Shirley Zeitler in 1948 and she preceded him in death October 30, 1992.

He retired in 1985 from the US Forest Service as an Agricultural Economist and Researcher after 30 plus years of service.  He was a graduate of Penn State University, where he received his BS, MS and PhD.

He was a member of Edgewater Baptist Church, New Orleans, Society of American Foresters, American Agricultural Economics Assoc., Toastmasters International Club #842, Penn State University Alumni Assoc., Lee Circle YMCA Board of Directors and Endowment Committee (New Orleans), Tau Phi Delta Forestry Fraternity Alumni Assoc. and he served in the US Army during WWII.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen A. Campbell and her husband Richard of Hammond, LA and Gail A. Davis and her husband Pat of Baton Rogue, LA; a sister, Julia A. Graham and her husband Joseph Lyle of Greenville and three grandchildren, Richard Campbell, Brian Davis and Kristin Davis.  He was preceded in death by a son Lawrence C. Anderson.

Services were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Douglas Graham, a nephew, and Rev. Pat Davis, a son-in-law, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.
