Walter E. Deiss, 81, formerly from the North Side, Pittsburgh passed away June 2, 2018 from Parkinson’s disease complications at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community in Meadville.
He was the eldest son of the late Walter F. and Mildred B. Deiss. Walt was a member of the former Brighton Road Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Scoutmaster. Walt enjoyed singing and outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, spelunking (cave exploration) and leading rock climbing expeditions. Walt was a people person and easily made friends. He retired from St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Walt is survived by his brothers: Raymond of Cochranton, Richard (Carol) of Meadville and Harold (Linda) of Gibsonia. He is also survived by nieces, nephew, and grand-nieces and grand- nephews.
Viewing and Mumford Chapel Cemetery interment were private. Arrangements were entrusted to the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Cribbs Residence McCracken Chapel at Wesbury, 31 North Park Avenue, Meadville.
Walt’s family is grateful to the staff at Wesbury for the care and support they so lovingly provided. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Wesbury Foundation, 31 North Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
