Walter R. Malliard

Walter R. Malliard, 80, of 708 N. Grant St., Meadville, died peacefully Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at his residence from heart complications.

He was born November 6, 1926 in Meadville, a son of the late Wilfred and Louise F. Goss Malliard.

He was a 1945 valedictorian graduate of Meadville High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.  He worked at Talon Plant 5 in work preparation for over 40 years.  He enjoyed coin and clock collecting and hunting.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include 2 nieces, Patricia Carr and her husband George of Meadville and Brenda Malliard formerly of Meadville; 3 nephews, Danny Malliard and his wife Christine of Meadville; David W. Malliard and his wife Lisa of California; and Carl Steven Malliard of Pittsburgh; great-nieces, Stephanie Malliard of Pittsburgh; Miquelle Kleean of Meadville; Amanda Harmon of Lancaster; other great-nieces and great-nephews; 1 great-great-niece; 1 great-great-nephew; a sister-in-law, Lillian Malliard of Nashville, TN; and a loving companion, Darlene Allen of Linesville.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl W. Malliard.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville followed by a funeral and committal service at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Sandra Jones of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006.

Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
