Walter R. Young

Walter R. Young, 63, of Meadville died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.

He was born in Salamanca, NY November 3, 1953 a son of Richard W. and Betty L. Bruyere Young, Sr.   He married Bonnie L. Dill May 3, 1975 and she survives.

He was a 1971 graduate of Meadville High School and worked at Abex Corp., Drafto Corp., then in construction with his brother, Buck and as a West Mead Township Supervisor for many years.  He was the founder of the West Mead Recycling Corp., was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a former trustee.  He was also a lifetime member of West Mead #1 Volunteer Fire Dept. and a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #408.

He loved music singing in the church choir and playing in the country band, The Cornfield County Boys.  He also loved fishing and hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Bonnie of 41 years, include: two sons, Justin Young and his wife Christa of Meadville and Todd Young and his wife MaryCatherine of Meadville; four grandchildren, Peyton Young, Brooklyn Young, Charlotte Young and David Van Kleeck; two brothers, Richard (Buck) Young, Jr. and his wife Myrna of Randolph, NY and Jack Young and his wife Shirley of Steamburg, NY and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church,  828 N. Main Street, Meadville.  The Masonic service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rebecca Patterson, Pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church (for the current expense fund), 828 N. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
