Warren H. Guthrie, 75, of Meadville, died Saturday, November 15, 1997 at United Community Hospital, Grove City following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 10, 1922 in Armstrong County, a son of the late John E. and Mary Phoebe Johns Guthrie. He married Ann Furno November 22, 1941 and she preceded him in death June 15, 1995.
He retired in 1983 as a welder at Greenville Steel Car after 38 years of service. He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219; Masonic Lodge #408, Scottish Rite Bodies of Coudersport; Kismet Grotto, Eagles Aerie #429, Italian Civic Club, Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, Life member of the Meadville Club and Honorary life member of the Keystone Hose Co. #5.
Survivors include three daughters, Lucy Pitt of Baltimore, MD, Ethel (Sindi) Larkin of Atlanta, GA and Patti Roberts of Atlanta, GA; a son, Kenneth (George) Guthrie of Meadville; three sisters, Nellie Forrester of Jackson Center, Florence Beres of Greenville and Violet Kern of Harrisville; four brothers, Harry Guthrie of Cochranton, Daniel Guthrie of Jackson Center, Laken Guthrie of Adamsville and Norman Bestwick of Jackson Center; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Clinton Guthrie and a sister, Margaret Bartolone.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in St. Brigid Cemetery.
