Wayne A. Battin

August 23, 1918 — September 24, 2006

Wayne A. Battin, 88, of 14180 Baldwin St. Ext. died unexpectedly at home Sunday September 24, 2006.

He was born in Plum Twp. Venango Co. PA August 23, 1918 a son of C. Laverne and Minnie Armstrong Battin.  He married Mary L. Hulings October 16, 1941, and she preceded him in death June 12, 2004.

He was a 1936 graduate of Titusville High School, and a veteran of World War II with the U. S. Army in Europe.  He retired in 1984 from Avtex Inc. as a Times Study Analyst after 47 years of service.

He was a very active member of First Baptist Church having served on many boards and committees, a former Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Men’s Class.

He enjoyed baseball and had helped his son coach Meadville Youth Baseball.

Survivors include one son, Brian Battin and his wife Judie of Greenville, one grandson, Doug Battin and his wife Lynn of Cincinnati, one great granddaughter, Marissa Lynn Battin of Cincinnati, one brother Murray Battin and his wife Tressa of Chapmanville, and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 363 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
