Wayne A. Stainbrook

Wayne A. Stainbrook, 88, of Meadville died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born in Meadville March 11, 1929 a son of A.D. and Ruth Ellis Stainbrook.  He married Jessie Burns December 25, 1948 and she survives.

He was a 1947 graduate of Saegertown High School and was a full partner and manager with his parents of the family dairy farm at the age of 16.  He became the full owner of the 100 cow Stain-Brook Farm in 1956 and operated it until he retired in 1994.  He was very active in the farming community serving as director and Board Chairman of the Meadville Cooperative (a feed-seed-fertilizer and chemical purchasing cooperative) from 1960-1978, served on the Advisory Committee to the Agway Board of Directors from 1965-1975, was Chairman of Delegates to Milk Marketing Inc. 1977-1994, Director and Chairman of Consolidated Farm Services Agency (ASCS) 1989-2002, served on the Environmental Resources of PA as Chair of the N/W Region and the State for the PA Farm Bureau 1978-present, member of the Woodcock Twp. Planning Commission 1973-1993, delegate to the Atlantic Breeders Cooperative 1966-1978, Crawford County Cooperative Extension Service Committee Chairman 1972-1976, member of the Crawford County Farmers Assoc. since 1964, served on the Crawford County Dairy Princess Committee 1956-1992, department Vice-Chair for hay, grain and farm crops at the Crawford County Fair, was a former Blooming Valley 4H leader and was affiliated with several additional agricultural and youth organizations.

He was the recipient of the Distinguished Service to Agriculture award by the Pennsylvania Farmers Assoc. in 1976, inducted into the Crawford County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1991 and was honored by the Pennsylvania Senate congratulations for Distinguished Service to Agriculture in 1977.  The 2017 Crawford County Fair Book was dedicated to him.  He also was honored to receive several local and state awards for voluntary work in the community and with agriculture.  He was always a hard worker who was very disciplined and resolute.  He enjoyed people and would get great joy simply by having a good conversation.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Jessie, of 69 years, include:  four sons, Dan Stainbrook and his wife Pat of Snohomish, WA, Lyle Stainbrook and his wife Mary of Venango, Bruce Stainbrook and his wife Cindie of Meadville and Ted Stainbrook and his wife Beverly of Cambridge Springs; eight grandsons, Eric, Jay, Martin, Kip, Corey, Craig, David and Vincent Stainbrook; a granddaughter, Krysti Nageotte; eleven great grandchildren, Kaito, Simon, Benjamin, Sebastian, Greyson, Everett, Eliza, Olivia, Sicily and Scarlett Stainbrook and J.P. Nageotte; a sister, Doris Bradshaw of Erie and several extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Stainbrook and a sister, Wilma Estes.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 3rd from 2-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Thursday, January 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Saegertown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road or Hospice of Crawford County, 766  Liberty Street both of Meadville, PA 16335.
