Wayne A. Thomas

Wayne A. Thomas, 86, of Conneaut Lake, died Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Rolling Fields.

He was born August 26, 1924 in Conneautville, a son of Earl and Ruth Foster Thomas.  He had been married to Mildred Seley and subsequently married Florence Wallis Miller November 30, 1979.

Wayne was a 1943 graduate of Conneautville High School.  He worked as a spinner at Avtex for 23 years and was a self-employed farmer in Summerhill Township for 33 years.  He previously worked at Ohio Rubber Company, Conneautville for 8 years, Circus-Circus in Reno, NV, and Club Cal-Neva in Reno.  He enjoyed gardening and driving cars.

He attended High Street Community Church, Conneaut Lake.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Florence, include a daughter, Joy Burchill and her husband the Rev. Joseph of Landisville; a son, Earl Thomas and his wife Sue of Linesville; four step-daughters, Shirley Skinner and her husband James of Palisade, CO, Janice Grant and her husband Robert of Cranberry Township, Bonnie Flynn and her husband Thomas of Jamestown, and Delores Turcotte of South Hampton, MA; two sisters, Lucille Wible and her husband Robert of Casa Grande, AZ and Phyllis Ackert and her husband Richard of Meadville; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lee Thomas; a stepson, Ronald Miller; and a brother, George Thomas.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at High Street Community Church, 9517 U.S. Hwy 322, Conneaut Lake where the funeral and committal service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. David M. Meckley, Pastor officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
