Wayne D. Klinginsmith, 92, of Conneaut Lake, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood Township, Crawford County, November 26, 1908, he was a son of Charles C. and Minnie I. McCracken Klinginsmith. He married Mary E. Ellison May 7, 1949, in Meadville.
He graduated from East Fallowfield High School, and worked for the Erie Railroad for four years before going to Talon, Inc., Meadville as a chain machine operator for 38 years, retiring in 1973. He also operated a truck garden and sweet corn stand sending produce to Pittsburgh form the inlet garden he operated for 30 years. He also raised and sold Capon chickens. he was proud of and enjoyed his garden through last summer and was looking forward to this summer's gardening.
He raised English setters and enjoyed hunting and fishing both in Canada and Pennsylvania. His greatest joy came from his family.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Conneaut Lake. He was a 50-year member of Pine Masonic Lodge 498. Past district deputy of Odd Fellows throughout his life. He was a life member of Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall, a member of Harmonsburg VFD and a proud and active member of Conneaut Lake Historical Society.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of almost 52 years, include four children, Marian Coulson of Seal Beach, CA, Richard of Corry, Robert of Aloha, OR and Bonita L. Klinginsmith of Spring Hills, FL; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Robert, James, Linda, Ricky, Holly and Dennis; two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Klinginsmith; a brother, Holly Klinginsmith and a half brother, J. G. Klinginsmtih.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
