Wayne L. Hoffman

January 26, 1935 — September 4, 2021

Wayne L. Hoffman, 86, of Meadville died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born at home in French Creek Twp., Mercer County January 26, 1935 a son of Ward and Alyce Aley Hoffman.  He married Harriette Coon February 15, 1958 and she survives.

He was a graduate of Meadville High School, the Crawford County Vo-Tech and Talon Inc. mechanical engineering apprenticeship program.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany in the US Air Force.  He then worked at Talon as a machine designer and following Talon’s closure at several area tool shops.  He was very well regarded for his work.

He was a long-time member of Emmanuel Community Church and served as Deacon and Financial Secretary.  He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed the old Talon Men’s league.  He also enjoyed crossword, sudoku and crypt-o-quote puzzles.  He also was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Harriette of 63 years, include: four children, Kim Proper (Fred) of Bradford, Kenneth Hoffman (Kimberly) of Meadville, Kevin Hoffman (Pamela Leap) of Boynton Beach, FL and Kurt Hoffman (Jill) of Conestoga, PA; seven grandchildren, Yvonne Proper, Victoria Buttray, Robert Hoffman, Joseph Hoffman, Rebecca Hoffman, Jennifer Hoffman and Elizabeth Servansky; one great granddaughter, Myra Servansky; a half-sister, Sherl Burning of Gasport, NY; a half-brother, Gregory Hoffman and a step-brother, Robert Stafford in Australia and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Solomon, officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.  The family requests that everyone please be masked.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens

The family suggests memorials be made to Emmanuel Community Church, 30 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335
