Wilbur Fred Bollis

Wilbur Fred Bollis, 92, of Meadville, died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at home after an unexpected illness.

He was born in Meadville May 17, 1929, a son of the late Frank Wilbur and Catherine M. Boyle Bollis.  He married Jean Marie Johnson August 22, 1953 and she preceded him in death October 30, 2018.

Wilbur was a 1947 graduate of Meadville Vocational High School.  He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army from 1949-52.  He was a member of the IBEW Local 712, Beaver, PA for 35 years, retiring in 1991.  Wilbur previously worked for the Meadville Telephone Company, Keystone Ordinance Works, and Kightlinger Electric.

Wilbur was a life member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #234, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, Elks Lodge #219, and VFW Post #2006.  He was also a member of West Mead #2 VFD.  Wilbur was a past Monarch of the Kismet Grotto in 1977 and a past president of the Pennsylvania Grotto Association in 1986.

Wilbur enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and softball.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Bollis (Pamela) of Meadville and David Bollis (Teresa) of Dallastown; four grandchildren, Joseph Bollis (Rhiannon) of San Antonio, TX, Staci Bollis Swab (Perry) of Cambridge Springs, Virginia Bollis Clegg (Jeremy) of Dallastown and Alex Bollis (Lindsey) of Dallastown; five great-grandchildren, Caleb Swab, Abigail Swab, Hawleigh Bollis, Eli Clegg, and Lydia Clegg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in the death by three brothers, Richard, George and Quinton Bollis and four sisters, Martha Jennings, Florence Durish, Catherine Hickernell and Mabel Allen.

Calling hours will be Thursday, November 18th from 4-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.

The funeral service will be Friday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Lacy Jackson as Life Celebrant and military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.

Interment will be in Denny Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
