Wilbur J. Baldwin

June 29, 1800 — January 1, 1753

Rev. Wilbur J. Baldwin, 78, former pastor of Grace Methodist Church and other Crawford County churches, died Thursday morning at his home on Conneaut, OH. Son of the late Hiram and Lucina Oakes Baldwin, he spent his childhood on a farm near Guys Mills and later taught in Crawford County public schools. The Rev. Mr. Baldwin also lived in Washington and Oregon. In 1901, he entered the ministry and became pastor of Centerville, WA, Methodist Church. Returning to this area, he became a member of the Erie Conference of the Methodist Church and assumed the pastorate of Putneyville Methodist Church. From 1928 to 1936 he was minister of Grace Methodist of Meadville. He also served as pastor of these district charges: Guys Mills, Springboro, Jamestown, Conneautville, New Bethlehem, Clarion and Kingsley Church and Asbury Church, both in Erie. He took up residence at Conneaut following his retirement but served as supply pastor to many area churches for some time. He was a former member of the board of directors of Cribbs Methodist Home and was pastor at Conneautville Methodist Church when the Ida M. Cribbs Home was established there. Surviving are his widow, Agnes Wygant Baldwin; two sons, Morris J. Baldwin of Clarion and the Rev. Clarence W. Baldwin, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Warren; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Polliard of Daytona Beach, FL, Mrs. Kenneth E. Steele of Meadville and Mrs. Clark F. Zuck of Erie; a brother, Nelson Baldwin of Akron, OH; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Interment was in Clarion. Services Past Services
