Wilbur M. Shady

Wilbur M. (Whip) Shady, 74, of Meadville, died Monday, January 14, 1991, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born in Renovo on December 12, 1916, a son of Layton and Margaret Hibbler Shady. He married Eva Davenport, September 1, 1940. She survives. He was employed at McCrosky Tool as a purchasing agent for 45 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Stone Methodist Church and served for many years as church usher. He was an active sportsman and participant in Meadville area softball and served as commissioner of softball. He was a Red Coat at Meadville Medical Center, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Masonic Lodge 408, Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie and the Crawford Shrine Club. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a brother, Oliver Shady of Meadville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Davis and Viola Coon, and by a brother, Oscar Shady. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
