Wilda M. Sippy, 86, of 670 Thoburn Court (Wesbury), Meadville, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Grace Nursing Center of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community following a short illness.
She was born August 13, 1923 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Paul and Georgia Stover Glenn. She married Henry L. Sippy March 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death July 16, 2008.
She and her husband enjoyed 66 years together, traveling extensively with friends and family to all 50 states and many countries. They spent their winters in Florida.
Wilda graduated from Meadville High School in 1941, was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star, and former member of Meadville City Hospital Auxiliary. Her primary joy was her family. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards with family and her bridge groups, reading, crafts, sewing, creating photo albums and traveling whenever the opportunity arose. She especially enjoyed her home, her golf cart and activities at Wesbury in recent years.
She is survived by four beloved children: Larry and Margaret Sippy of Saegertown and Lon and Rhonda Sippy, Linda Olmstead, and Luann Way, all of Meadville. She leaves nine much loved grandchildren: Kinta and Gary Alizzeo, Tami and Chris Adams, Mark Sippy and Ambryann Way, all of Meadville, Jill and Jeff Diefenbach of Richmond, VA, Ben Sippy of San Diego, CA, and Jessica and Michael Armant, Dane Olmstead, and Aric and Laura Way, all of Erie. She enjoyed her eight precious great-grandchildren: Sierra and Maya Alizzeo, Karalyn and Elizabeth Adams, Alyssa and Cadence Diefenbach, Trent Way, and Tegun Hollabaugh. Also surviving are a sister, Dorothy and Ken Boyd of Meadville, a brother-in-law, Donald and Alice Sippy of Greensburg, a sister-in-law, June Sippy of Ogden, UT, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Sippy, a sister, Pauline Boyd, and a son-in-law, Rev. Gerald Olmstead.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral and committal service will follow Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Chaplain of Wesbury United Methodist Community, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
