William C. Walton, 80, of Euclid Ave., Saegertown and former longtime resident of Walton Hill, East Mead Township, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center.
Born in Meadville December 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles B. Walton and Bernice (Boyd) Walton. He grew up at Wayland and enjoyed rural life with family and friends.
He married Gail (Andrews) Jonas on December 19, 1978. Together they shared many happy years in a home they built together on Walton Hill.
Bill served in the United States Marine Corps.
A 38 year employee of Meadville Forging Corporation, Bill had also been employed at Frontier Home, Meadville.
He was a longtime member of the Meadville Alliance Church where he had been a former trustee. He and “Pa” also had assisted in the building of the original church sanctuary of the Pleasantview Alliance Church. Serving the Lord was extremely important in his life.
He was a terrific support system to his parents as they aged and his help in maintaining the family farm at Wayland was exemplary.
Family members include his wife of 38 years, Gail A. Walton of Saegertown; one daughter, Gwendolyn A. Hannold of East Springfield; a son, James D. Walton; his stepmother, Mildred M. Walton of Meadville; a stepdaughter, Pamela A. Dietrich and her husband Richard of Saegertown; two stepsons, Dean A. Jonas and his wife Paula and Steven L. Jonas and his wife Renee of Saegertown; three brothers, Rev. Gerald D. “Jerry” Walton and his wife Carol, Rev. Dr. Harold W. Walton and his wife Nancy, and Clyde A. Walton and his wife Marie, all of Meadville; grandchildren, Justin Hannold and his wife Amanda, Brandon Hannold, Stephen and Sarah Barbusca, Samuel and Emily Jonas, Matthew and Jeremy Jonas, and Kaleb Jonas; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and a longtime friend, Kenny Kindervater of Kingman, AZ.
Bill was predeceased by his father, his mother, a stepdaughter, Karen Barbusca, a brother, C. Howard Walton, an infant sister, Norma E. Walton, a grandson, Lucas C. Jonas and many extended family.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 PM at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Meadville Alliance Church, 660 North Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Jeff Conley, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Wayland Cemetery, East Mead Township.
