William Dean Reed

William Dean Reed, 73, of Meadville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center following complications of heart failure.  He would want people to know that while he died of a weak heart, he died with a happy heart.

Dean was born December 11, 1948 in Washington, PA, a son of William E. and Marion Roach Reed.

He was a 1966 graduate of Meadville High School.  He worked at his parent’s business, the former Mr. Donut.  He formerly owned and operated the Cork and Bottle Tavern on North Street where he proudly sponsored a softball team that he also enjoyed playing for.  Dean later worked as a maintenance supervisor for three major hotel chains in Myrtle Beach, SC and also managed a condominium complex in Garden City, SC.  He subsequently was a partner, for 23 years, of MRR Properties, LLC with his best friends, Sharon Marino and Halee Ranck.

Dean was proud of donating to the Salvation Army at Christmas time and to the Family and Community Christian Association for its annual Thanksgiving dinners.

Survivors include a sister, Donna Giles (Carey) of Saegertown; nieces and nephews, Kelly Scott (Paul), Christopher Luzier (Sherry Bish), Lynsey Kightlinger (RJ), David Luzier, Pam Ryder, and Billy Novak (Kandace); great-nieces and great-nephews, Will Scott, Natalie Luzier, Rileigh Luzier, Sydney Kightlinger, Alex Kightlinger, Matthew Luzier, Kevin Luzier, Brandi Ryder, Bobby Ryder, and Josh Novak.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Running and a great-nephew, Nathan Luzier.

A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at a later date.
