William F. McFadden, 77, of Altoona and formerly of Guys Mills, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Guys Mills January 6, 1934, a son of Forrest and Florence Garnet McFadden. He married Gladys Smith October 18, 1952.
Bill was a 1951 graduate of Randolph High School. He was employed by Penelec for 27 years, working out of the Altoona and Meadville offices, and retired in 1991 as line supervisor.
He was a member of Grazierville United Methodist Church, Tyrone and former member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. He was a member of Altoona Moose Lodge 74 and was instrumental in the early development of Mt. Hope Golf Course.
Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, and baking, especially cookies, and he loved and enjoyed his family dearly and all the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Gladys of 58 years, include three children, Linda Allen and her husband Sean, William Andrew McFadden, and Deborah Beauchamp and her husband Jim, all of Altoona; six grandchildren, Jeb Beauchamp and his wife Tracy, Brooke Yaudes and her husband Tim, Maggie Lewis and her husband Gary, Nikki McFadden, Keegan Allen, and Rogan Allen; six great-grandchildren, Austin and Hailey Beauchamp, McKenna and Colin Yaudes, and Bryce and Brady Lewis; a sister, Norma McFadden and her companion Jack York of Guys Mills; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine McFadden and Virginia Proper.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy 27, Guy Mills where the memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Guys Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in Bill's name.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
