William G. Schnauber, 89, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 with family by his side.
He was born in Meadville on August 25, 1933, a son of William A. and Matie Mae Cheny Schnauber. He married Beatrice J. Laflamme August 4, 1956 and she preceded him in death October 22, 2018.
They raised five boys: William Schnauber (Jan Buckley) of Wichita, KS, Robert Schnauber (Karen) of Chicopee, MA, Barry Schnauber (Cindy) of Pittsburgh, Brian Schnauber (Lorna) of Deer Park, TX, and Bradley Schnauber (Lynne) of Meadville.
Bill graduated from Meadville High School in 1951. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1956. Bill worked at Channellock and then worked for 27 years at the Meadville Fire Department, retiring in 1995 as the Assistant Chief. After retirement he worked part time for Loeffler’s for ten years.
Bill was a member of The Epiphany of the Lord Parish. He also coached Little League Baseball for many years and loved volunteering with the Boy Scouts when his boys were young. Outside of spending time with his family, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was very proud of keeping track of the family tree and adding new additions.
He is survived by his five sons and their spouses; grandchildren: Matt (Kristen), Jeremy (Melissa), Becky (Kevin), Robin (Junior), Alisha (Chris), Eric (Ashley), Dani (Michael), Jacklyn (Cory), Ali (Miranda), Wesley, Karlie, Brendan, Benjamin, and Emiley; great-grandchildren: Jaden, Jaxon, Nolan, Nora, Roman, Gavin, Addison, Brantley, Rori, Mason, Camron, Braylen, Whitney, and Kalvin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bea; and great-granddaughter, Ellie Sanchez.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Marchetta, Wesbury Chaplain, officiating.
