William George Prather, 21, son of attorney and Mrs. Frank D. Prather, was found dead in his car near a park in Durham, NC, Friday, February 28, 1964.
Dr. D. R. Perry, Durham County coroner, ruled that the death of the Duke University senior was a suicide, caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Attorney and Mrs. Prather, on their way to Florida, reached Durham Friday afternoon.
William Prather was born in Meadville, September 19, 1942. He and the former Priscilla Charlesworth were married last June 15.
He was a member of Stone Methodist Church and of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Survivors, in addition to his widow and his parents, include three sisters, Patricia Joan, a student at Duke, and Mary Sue and Sally Jane at home; three brothers, Thomas M. of Meadville, Mark David, a student of Duke and Frank Lee at home; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Zeitler of Holly Hill, FL.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
